Psychologist/Author/Speaker

Dr. Kimber Shelton is a licensed psychologist, author, speaker and educator. She is the owner of KLS Counseling & Consulting Services in Texas; where she specializes in cultural diversity, LGBTQ issues, trauma and relationships concerns. The Black Mental Health Symposium 2023 Distinguished Practitioner of the Year; Dr. Shelton is an award-winning psychologist committed to improving the quality of mental health services provided to minoritized groups and liberating Black women’s wellness. She has over 20 publications, including the acclaimed A Handbook on Counseling African American Women. Dr. Shelton has provided cultural competence training to thousands of mental health professionals and has contributed to articles on CNN, Huffington Post, and USAToday. Formally, she served as the Texas Psychological Association Diversity Division co-chair, and was a committee member on APA’s Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity. Dr. Shelton’s most important work is being the mother to 5 year-old twin daughters.
